Processional

Ok so the traditional route of the groom walking to the alter followed by the bridesmaids and groomsmen then the bride’s big entrance doesn’t exactly work for us gays folks.  So how does a processional work in a gay wedding?  This is your special day and you are free to do as you please.  After talking it over with my wife we decided our bridesmaids would go first, then the music change signaling the bride’s entrance, then she would walk to the alter, and finally I would follow behind her accompanied by my mother.  Here are some other methods couples have implemented:

* The couple walks down the aisle together, arm in arm

* Two separate aisles are created (by arranging the guests chairs).  Create a dramatic entrance by both walking down separate aisles and meeting at the alter.

* I’ve also met a couple that decided to walk down the aisle together escorted by one of the groom’s father and the other groom’s mother.

Remember - do what will make you comfortable.  Don’t make these decisions based on family expectations.  Look you’re only going to do this once, so do it the way that will make you most happy!
